Dear Sage 50 Development Team
Message: I’d like to suggest a small improvement to the payroll remittance warning message in Sage 50. When entering a payroll remittance for a prior month (e.g., April payroll remitted in May), Sage displays:
“The end of remitting period for this transaction precedes the session date and will affect prior period reports.”
This wording can sound like I’m making an error, even though this workflow is normal for Canadian payroll to be pay on the 15th in the following month.
A clearer message would help users understand that this is expected. For example:
“This remittance belongs to a prior payroll period. Your session date is later. This is normal for CRA payroll remittances. Continue?”
This would reduce confusion and support calls while still protecting users from entering transactions in the wrong period.
