Access to previous year ends

When real-life problems, like a cancer diagnosis, arise, important tasks can slip through the cracks for small business owners. For example, my 2023 year-end was filed late, resulting in receiving the journal entries after the fact. Meanwhile, my daily operations continued, and a new fiscal year began.

Now, two and a half months into my 2025 fiscal year, I’ve realized that the 2023 year-end journal entries were never posted. Unfortunately, Sage does not offer practical support to address this issue. I propose that Sage enable access to previous year-ends, allowing users to retrieve necessary data without having to restart the year and redo two and a half months of work.

I agree. I have used Sage (prev. Simply Accounting) remember this feature was available in the former versions. Sage has taken away a very useful feature that is practical. QB has this ability and for this, I would put a win in QB's column. Also, for new companies that are formed without having decided on a new year, QB allows you to print by periods rather than just the year end date set during initial settings. Sage will only allow you change the year end after you've completed the year set in the beginning. For the amount that SAGE charges, I think they can do better.

It had only been 14.5 months since my 2023 year end, and two and a half months into my 2025 fiscal year.
