Master file notes field be expanded

Why are the notes fields SO limited in Sage?  On each customer master file, there's a notes field that is very limited for how many characters are allowed.  If you don't enter any data, you can scroll down for miles, but data entered seems to only permit a few lines and then stops dead.  In other software, I've historically used fields like this to note A/R follow ups such as "9/12/23 - called customer regarding past due invoice 12345.  Customer advised payment is enroute."  The next note would be to follow up again on that invoice or a subsequent invoice.  Having the ability to enter the most recent note on top but without eliminating the history of collection efforts is critical for efficiency.

GL accounts have a similar field in the chart of accounts.  With other software, I've been able to use this field to record several items.  For example, a GL code for miscellaneous tools could be used as the bucket for, well, miscellaneous tools purchased.  They are assets but not significant enough to warrant a separate GL code for each item.  It would be great if the notes field could record each item dumped into it and the date of purchase.  A moment of entry in the notes field when each item is purchased would aid in asset management.

I propose that all notes fields in master files (employee, GL, vendors, and customer) all should allow several pages of notes in the notes tab.  As this is a text only area, maybe it wouldn't be difficult to enable?
